She was frustrated. It was true it had nothing to do with Stiles, even less one of her friends, however the disappointment she wasn’t completely happy on herself pictured on her expression. An playful smile joined the earlier pout as his friend firmly tried to hide these dreadful features upon her face. “ I’m afraid my self-letdown appear far too much naturally” Allison attempted to explain instead, wanting reassure him he wasn’t the cause. “ C'mon, Stiles, I know that! I wish just… to be able to do more! ” The way her hands moved slowly towards her face with a deep sigh expressed rightfully her emotions. “ We are in the same boat. You may even know more than me with your personal researches ”
he can’t stand seeing her with that expression. it twisted something ugly in the depths of his core. a fluttering motion that rose up & clung to his heart like a vice. lips part with every intention in trying to alleviate allison’s frustration, but the words get stuck. so, instead, he turns & works on digging out the books he knows he’s going to need over the weekend. it’s a ploy; a means in stalling & he’s pretty sure even she knows.
after grabbing his supplies & finding that he’s utterly out of things to delay the inevitable he turns to face the music. or in other-words, allison’s agile, prettily structured, downtrodden face. & yeah, there’s that awful feeling again. stirring angrily in his stomach. what was that anyways? guilt? couldn’t be, he didn’t have any reason to be guilty.
“okay, i’ll give you that. —- but that’s just me. it’s how i work. i’m the only squishy human here, and no —- don’t argue. you know i’m right. you’ve got centuries of history, and more natural talent with a bow than anyone this side of the country.” okay, so he’s rambling. sue him, it’s just the baseline function of what he did when he was nervous & seeking a way out —– &then it hits him.
reaching out, he takes hold of her bag’s strap & hauls her in a step. “actually i’ve just thought of something —- are you free tonight? because if you are there are at least 3 different things i want to check out and it would be much easier with you than one of the others.”
